Through searching online for a vehicle I narrowed the list down the Mazda MX-5 and Toyota MR2, basically they were the right price, other people had successfully converted them and they are interesting cars. So I to the did some rough calculations to gauge for myself their suitability, involving;
I took this "analysis" to and automotive engineer familiar with EV conversions to "validate" my thinking, who gave me his qualified opinion. But what really cemented my thoughts was making contact with someone who had been there before, Suhas Malghan. I found Suhas and his eMR2 via evalbum.com and we started about the conversation about his conversion. Suhas was very helpful and generous with his assistance. Over the period of converting, owning and driving an EV I have found the EV community to be the best source of information, encouragement, parts and assistance. So my decision to a) proceed with an EV conversion and b) purchase a 1989 Toyota MR3 came down to four things.
